The following list provides the locations of Vital Records found in Sioux County:
- Births
- Court House Birth Records:
In the 1880's to early 1900's, the records are few. Microfilms of
the county court house birth records from about 1880 to 1920 are
located at the Sioux Center Public Library.
- Church Membership Records:
Record births as well as baptisms in the family membership rolls.
- Newspapers:
Birth of babies are often announced.
- Marriages
- Court House Marriage License Records:
1871 to present at the court house. Microfilms of the county
court house marriage records from about 1871 to 1920 are located
at the Sioux Center Library.
- Church Records:
Some churches have marriage registers.
- Newspapers:
Some newspapers announce marriages of local individuals.
- Deaths
- Court House Death Records:
1880 to present with very few older records. Microfilms of the
county court house death records from about 1880 to 1920 are
located at the Sioux Center Public Library.
- Cemetery Records:
Records are kept by recorders for local cemeteries. See Cemeteries
under the Vital Records menu for listings and Cemetery Index information.
- Funeral Home:
Have current records on funerals and obituaries. Most don't have older archives
on deaths and obituaries.
- Newspapers:
Most deaths were recorded in the local newspaper. Many obituaries include
family information and life stories of the individual.
